Jamaica is to establish an embassy in Brazil as the government moves to strengthen ties with the South American country.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding said he held talks with Brazilian President Lula da Silva about deepening areas of cooperation between both countries during last week's European Union, Latin American and the Caribbean summit in Peru.
Mr. Golding said one area in which the countries have already been in consultation is the sugar industry privatization programme.
He said he would likely pay an official visit to Brazil later this year.
